We are proud to announce that Royal British Veterans Enterprises social enterprise, Britain’s Bravest Manufacturing Company (BBMC), has been appointed as a signage partner for Lower Thames Crossing, one of Britain’s most crucial economic infrastructure projects. BBMC will be delivering an array of signage for the project – from site signage through to temporary and permanent road signs, helping to ensure safe, accessible and high-quality infrastructure across the route
Lower Thames Crossing is the UK’s largest road infrastructure project in a generation: a new 14.3‑mile route including the country’s longest road tunnel, connecting Kent, Thurrock and Essex beneath the River Thames. Once complete, it will almost double road capacity east of London, easing congestion and unlocking growth across the Southeast.
Signage produced for the scheme will be manufactured at BBMC in Kent, where veterans and people with disabilities are employed in skilled, sustainable work. This means the project will not only transform transport links but also create lasting social value by supporting inclusive employment in our communities.
We are delighted to build on our existing collaboration with the Lower Thames Crossing Skills Hub, which is already helping local people access training and careers in construction. The project has committed to recruiting almost half of its workforce locally and spending a third of its construction budget with small businesses, ensuring it leaves a lasting legacy of skills, jobs, and strong local enterprises.
As Natalie Bonnick, Head of Supply Chain Development at Lower Thames Crossing, said:
“This partnership demonstrates how major national projects can deliver both world‑class infrastructure and meaningful employment opportunities. We look forward to working closely with Britain’s Bravest Manufacturing Company, alongside our Delivery Partners – Skanska, Balfour Beatty, and Bouygues Murphy JV – to ensure the benefits of the scheme are felt across the region.”
